Our fund raising goal for 2013 is to buy the UCLA Hospitals/Mattel Children’s Hospital blood and platelet center a new box truck for their blood drives and support their other needs for generating much needed supplies to generate the needed blood & platelet donations to help save lives of children and adults in our community.
We are going to offer two special incentives to riders and friends…to raise money for our event charity.
Back again for this year is a special raffle for a “super bike” valued at more than $4,500 not including the custom fitting to the winner by Velo Pasadena/Velo Studio. This raffle will be a limited ticket sale raffle so your chances of winning are excellent, only 100 tickets will be sold at $50 each.
The winner of this raffle (unlike our on-site raffle) DOES NOT need to be present to win. This carbon fiber bike will have top of the line components and drive train and will be custom fit to the winner’s size and riding style. So enter early…and tell your friends…remember they do not have to present to win this bike. For more details please go to the event raffle web page. Here’s a link to the raffle entry form:
Second, anyone who brings in an extra check for $20 made out to the event charity…they will receive 25 raffle tickets to the event raffle for their contributions.
Please make checks out to: UC Regents - BPC
Make sure to put this on the memo line: For UCLA Blood & Platelet Center blood drives (can abbreviate BPC)
You can now make a donation or set up a fundraising page online through active.com by clicking on the following link:
If you would like to become a fundraiser, you can set up your own fundraising page. Then all of your donations will be credited to you. For donors who raise more than $500 we will offer them VIP parking, a free event jersey, 150 raffle tickets. If you are riding in the ride, then please also register so that we know you will be one of our VIP riders. Please know that active.com does take a handling and credit card processing fee on each donation.
Event costs have skyrocketed and we have tried to keep the registration prices down for our riders. So we need your help more than ever to reach our event charity goals. Please help us help the city’s littlest angels.
16 years…and still giving back to the community
Our most ambitious goal…the Maxmobile, Childrens Hospital LA’s very first bloodmobile.
Named for Max Buelow, a little boy who was treated at CHLA for bone cancer and passed away… who was an inspiration to us all. The CHLA blood donor program has grown exponentially since their first off-site blood drive at the LA Convention Center in 2005. They now supply 100% of their blood & blood product needs. This saves the hospital more than $3.5 million dollars a year! |
|
In 2009, we reached another goal to buy CHLA a box truck.
|
Now that the blood drive program was off the ground and growing they needed to be able to facilitate larger blood drives. In this picture, former Asst. Chief Jim McDonnell who participated and supported our ride with event producer Peter Heumann. Ride sponsor VW & producer later allowed LA Kings to place graphics on the box truck in exchange for a $500,000 donation to CHLA. |

In 2010, we completed our goals at Childrens Hospital LA...
|
We donated a passenger van that allows staff to be transported to blood drives all over Los Angeles…and Southern California. In several short years we accomplished quite a bit with our ride…saving CHLA millions of dollars a year in not having to purchase blood & blood products and saving thousands of lives. |

It’s 2013 and we’re still going strong…we hope you will help us help the city’s Littlest Angels!
