Q. Is the ride registration limited?
A. Yes, due to city resource issues we must limit the ride to the first 1,000 riders. When the registration limit is reached we will post it on the website and close online registration as well. So, please register early.
Q. When will I get my registration package in the mail?
A. We typically start mailing out registration packages (rider numbers, raffle tickets, lunch tickets, directions and information) about 3 weeks before the ride.
Q. Where do we park for the ride?
A. Follow directions of the parking staff as they will direct you to the available free parking in either the police academy lot or adjacent Dodger Stadium lot.
Q. Can I pre-register after April 1st?
A. Yes, but only online at www.active.com and if the ride has not filled up. Online registration closes Tuesday, April 5th. After that time, all riders will have to come to on-site registration.
Q. Do I have to be a registered rider to enter the raffle prize drawings?
A. No, the raffle is open to everyone…but you must be present to win all the major prizes like bikes and Neuvation Cycling wheel sets (valued at $500 each).
Q. What’s the deal with the raffle & prize give-aways
A. All proceeds from the raffle go directly to the Childrens event charity…so the more tickets you buy…the more you help the “City’s Littlest Angels”. There will also be prize give-aways in categories like: youngest rider, oldest rider, furthest distance traveled to the ride, person who lives closest to the ride start, most unique outfit/costume and other surprise categories.
Q. Where is the ride?
A. The ride starts & finishes at the Los Angeles Police Academy in Elysian Park, behind Dodger Stadium. Here’s the link to the map: Map to Volkswagen City of Angels Fun Ride
Q. What if I am a stronger rider than my riding buddy that I came with?
A. No problem, you can go in the advanced ride and they can go in the recreational ride. Both rides start and finish at the same location. The advanced ride is slightly longer than the recreational ride in order to have both rides finish at similar times.
Q. What if I have a mechanical problem or can’t finish the ride?
A. We have roving mechanical support along the ride route to help you with minor mechanical problems. Also, if you are unable to finish the ride for any reason, we have a SAG bus to pick you up along with a bicycle pick-up trailer for your bike.
Q. Can I order a vegetarian lunch?
A. Yes, please mark your registration form clearly and choose the box that indicates you would like a vegetarian lunch and we will try to accommodate your needs. Vegetarian lunches will be limited so please make sure and order in advance.
