- This is a fun ride and not a race
- There will be two rolling closures: one for advanced riders who can maintain a pace of 15-17 MPH and one for recreational riders who can maintain a pace of 10-12 MPH. Any riders that cannot maintain the pace with one of the two groups can choose to either:
- Fall back out of the pack and follow all normal traffic laws and signals.
- Or be picked up by the SAG Bus and bicycle truck.
- If you fall out of the advanced group, you can fall back and join the recreational ride…although there may differences in route, so you must check with an LAPD bicycle officer of ride marshal to find the recreational ride group.
- To join the slower group you must pull over to the curb and let the motor officers leading the ride, ride leaders and main pack pass you by and then join in at the back of the pack in a safe and cautious manner.
- This is a fun ride and not a race (have we said that yet?)…make new friends…see new things…enjoy the ride.
- Our goal is to take you on a tour of Los Angeles to some wonderful and unique places that you ordinarily would not see on a bicycle (or even in a car), while raising money for a worthy cause.
- The ride passes over 65 scenic, cultural & historic sights
each of which will be listed on the route sheets that you pick-up on the day of the event. We truly hope you enjoy the ride.
- LAPD Special Event Motorcycle Unit & LAPD Bicycle Patrol will be providing a rolling closure for the entire route.
- All riders must sign the ride liability waiver on the application or prior to the ride.
- Minors will be mailed a ride waiver that must be signed by a parent or guardian prior to the ride. Bring signed Ride Liability Waiver to ride registration, do not mail.
- Volunteer ride marshals will have bibs clearly identifying them in the pack, please feel free to ask for assistance…and above all thank them for volunteering their services to help make the ride more enjoyable.
- Riders must stay in the group; no riders may pass the front motorcycle officers.
- If you choose to fall off the back of the pack and continue on then all traffic rules and regulations must be followed.
- You can re-join the rolling closure after the rest stop to make it an easy, traffic-free spin back…but you may not pass the rolling closure.
- Remember when you rejoin the group, it must be done from the rear of the pack… do not make a u-turn into the group.
- There will be a SAG bus to pick up riders that cannot finish the ride
due to mechanical or other reasons, with a trailer following behind to pick up your bicycles.
- First Aid will be available along the route with one roving first aid group following the ride and one stationed at the rest stop.
