Ride Information

Take an urban bike adventure!!! See Los Angeles like you’ve never seen it before… with a rolling traffic closure.

Ride registration is limited to the first 1,000 riders due to limitations with the rolling LAPD traffic closures and will fill up… register early. Pick your challenge… and have a great day.

If the ride fills up before the event, we will announce it both on our web page and on our Facebook Fan Page.

The advanced ride will start at 7:30am sharp… and roll at a brisk advanced pace of 15 – 18 MPH average with total mileage of just over 53 miles. Please do not try to push the pace… do not crowd the lead motors. The route while rolling by some of the same locations is a new direction and has some relatively challenging hills toward the end of the ride… so be prepared!

The recreational ride has a few new turns through Chinatown also and will begin promptly at 7:45… and roll at a leisurely pace of 10 – 12 MPH average for approximately 32 miles. The recreational ride has a few less hills than in previous years, but will have a couple of challenging climbs at the end by Dodger Stadium before finishing at the Police Academy. This ride is not suggested for children under 14.

Riders will get a brief rest stop with food and water of about 20 minutes, and take a bathroom break if needed.

Please remember to stay to the right and listen to the LAPD instructions and follow the lead of our volunteer ride marshals. Ride Speeds will vary based on terrain, road conditions and other issues that would affect the pack.

If you cannot maintain the pace, you have two options: 1) drop off the ride and get picked up by the SAG bus; or 2) Take a map of the route at the beginning of the ride and finish the route…remember you MUST obey all traffic laws if you fall out of the pack. Route Maps will be available at the start of the ride.

There is only one rest stop on the ride… there is an optional rest stop on the advanced ride at approximately mile 35 with bathrooms and water… if you stop here you may miss the first 5 mile loop in Griffith Park in order to stay with the rolling closures.

If you have a mechanical or other issue… please pull carefully to the curb on the right and notify a ride marshal, event staff or LAPD officer. We do have a SAG pick-up bus and bike truck and minimal roving mechanical repair ability.

Be courteous to other riders, ride volunteers… and the police escort. Please follow the directions of the LAPD officers leading the ride.

Helmets are required for all riders.

No Headphones allowed

Bicycles ONLY allowed in the ride

Water will be available at the start area and during the rest stop prior to the advanced ride taking off. Please make sure you are properly hydrated. Portable bathrooms will also be available. Your rider numbers must be visible at all times. Either pinned to your front or back. Riders without numbers will be escorted out of the rolling closure.
